Swimming at Cameron Pools

Swimming at Cameron Pools

Taolofa lava welcome to my blog post, this year the middle school and Seniors
have been going to Cameron Pools to learn how to swim. We go to Cameron Pools on
Tuesdays and Thursdays and we go to the school pool on Wednesday and Friday.
My swimming teacher is a girl and we went in the main pool.
Last year the adults and the coaches had a swimming race. We have been
learning how to float on our back, front and steam line to. We also learnt how to get
into the pool and get out of the pool safely. The middle school goes in the Nan's
pool and the seniors go in the main pool. My class and another class is the first
one to go on the bus and go of the bus to Cameron Pools. I hope you enjoyed my
blog post. Blog you later

Mental Health and Gumboot Friday

Mental Health and Gumboot Friday
On Tuesday the 9th the seniors made positive and  uplifting cards for for Mental Health.
Some people made 3 and 4 but most of us did 2 positive cards. We also drawn pictures on the
positive uplifting cards like hearts and stars. We started writing the cards on Gumboot Friday
and we carried on Monday and Tuesday. After we finished our positive cards some parents
came and helped us walk around our school on the road to put our uplifting cards. Every
parent went to different streets and put the cards in different mail boxes so they can feel happier.
After we sent the letters we went back to school and the next day this random lady said that it
made their day because of our cards. Mental Health and Gumboot Friday is all about helping
children and fundraising money for them. The idea to put the positive uplifting posts in people’s
mailboxes was a girl and her name was Neeve. The idea of Gumboot Friday came from Healthy
Puketapapa Student Questionnaire. 30 students from the senior syndicate signed a booklet from
the Government to see what kids think about and see what they would say. I think we should do
it every term from now on so we can get more happy people around our school and anyone can
post positive cards in people’s mail boxes even you can do that to. This other lady said it made
their day to but the lady and her and her son sounded teary on the phone.

Tread lightly Caravan

Tread lightly Caravan
The Tread lightly caravan visited our school on Monday the 1 of April and did some fun activity with us. There was 3 stations. One was inside doing VR headsets, learning about the wetlands and doing this cool thing when you colour a pukeko and aim the phones or i Pads at the picture the pukeko moves. The second station is when you go in the caravan and you have to put the bottles in the correct place. And the last station is when we had to find how much drains are around our school, me and my buddy found 68 drains around our school. When we were finished we had to choose a wooden plate, it had a statement on it about rubbish and other stuff. Then we had to get a picture with a fish on it and we had to write in the fish the statement about what we choose to do at home, we could decorate the picture if we wanted to. We went to Tread lightly Caravan because we can teach other people what they taught us. Don't forget to leave a comment. Blog you later

Christchurch Special Assembly

Christchurch Special Assembly

At Waikowhai School on Monday 18 march, we had a special assembly. We planted a kowhai tree next to the friendship bench because of what happened to the Muslims in Christchurch. We also did one minute silence to respect the ones who died and the ones who got effected from the bad guy. The schools in Christchurch had to go lock down for 4 hours and it must have been so scary hiding in the class for so long.  We also put cards around the kowhai tree and we sang Aotearoa and the national anthem in the hall. What happened in Christchurch has made me feel sad because they do not deserve to die while they are saying their prayers in the mosque. There is a site called givealittle where you give money to the Muslims and now there is 9,000,000$ from 94,527  generous people. Last Friday we had 2 minutes silence and we listened to a Muslim prayer.
