Mental Health and Gumboot Friday
On Tuesday the 9th the seniors made positive and uplifting cards for for Mental Health.
Some people made 3 and 4 but most of us did 2 positive cards. We also drawn pictures on the
positive uplifting cards like hearts and stars. We started writing the cards on Gumboot Friday
and we carried on Monday and Tuesday. After we finished our positive cards some parents
came and helped us walk around our school on the road to put our uplifting cards. Every
parent went to different streets and put the cards in different mail boxes so they can feel happier.
After we sent the letters we went back to school and the next day this random lady said that it
made their day because of our cards. Mental Health and Gumboot Friday is all about helping
children and fundraising money for them. The idea to put the positive uplifting posts in people’s
mailboxes was a girl and her name was Neeve. The idea of Gumboot Friday came from Healthy
Puketapapa Student Questionnaire. 30 students from the senior syndicate signed a booklet from
the Government to see what kids think about and see what they would say. I think we should do
it every term from now on so we can get more happy people around our school and anyone can
post positive cards in people’s mail boxes even you can do that to. This other lady said it made
their day to but the lady and her and her son sounded teary on the phone.
