Choir rehearsals

Choir rehearsals
On Thursday the 13th of June the choir from Waikowhai Primary School walked down to Hay Park Primary School for rehearsals. There was 7 school choirs that went to hay park and we ate morning tea at Hay Park School. We walked because they were close to our school  but some schools took buses because it was to far to walk from their school. We started with warm ups so first we sang the vowls like aaaaaa, lalalalalala then had to stand up and sit down.

Then it was morning tea we had to stay in for ten minutes because we were still practicing choir songs. I was playing soccer at morning tea time and they have a big field at their school but everyone was only playing one goal. Then the bell rang so everyone had to go inside but then miss sands said we can go outside and play because we stayed inside for ten minutes so we could play outside for ten more minutes. We finished early because we only had to do the same songs about two or three times.

Mr lambert said that we finished thirty one minutes before the other school choirs so we got to school early when it was play time. After we walked back up to school, we ate lunch in the class and I was sitting with my friends. I really enjoyed doing choir at Hay Park because I made new friends and I learnt how to sing the choir songs better, properly with Mr lambert.

Getting ready for camp

Getting ready for camp

On the day just before camp I started to get ready for camp like your ski clothes and your thermal clothes because it is very cold there. I am feeling exited because it will be my first time touching snow and first time snowboarding to. I am feeling scared because I will be away from my parents and I might get injured by crashing into a pole or get lost. I am also worried that I won't wake up early in time for breakfast and snowboard lessons. My challenge is to try to wake up early and going to sleep early because at home I don't really do sleeping and waking up early good. My other challenge is to try to snowboard good and try to control it so I don't bump into anyone or anything. On camp I will gain confidence of being far away from my parents because I have only gone away from my mum because I went to Australia. I think I will be happy when I come back from camp because I will see my family again because I have not seen them in four days. I also think that I will be tired because we will get to school at 6.00pm or at 9.30pm because if we miss a day for lessons then we will do it on Friday. This is a photo where we will be going for camp and it's called the Mt Ruapehu.

My Narritive

My Narrative

We were working on narratives in term three and we had to kind of relate it to our holidays. My narrative was called, "Driving in an earthquake." The setting was at my house and at the Sky Tower to because I went to the Sky Tower in the holidays but there was no earthquake there. It was about my car breaking down and my mum called a taxi to take me to the Sky Tower. Once we got in the Sky city the earthquake was begining to happen, so we hid in Bunnings warehouse because it had tables to drop, cover and hold. Other people's narratives were like getting stuck in a video beause they were playing video games with each other in th holiday. here is the link to my narritive if you are interested in to my narritive. Hockey zones

Hockey zones
On the 24th of June the people that made it in hockey went to Mount Roskill Grammar school in some of the parents's cars. In the morning I forgot to bring my mouth guard so Julie kindly brought some for me from the shop. I was so lucky to have a mouth guard because if you don't have a mouth guard you can not play hockey. So when we got there the car parks were nearly gone because there was lots of people and schools there. We had to bring our hockey stick and we went in the gate to put our bags down on the ground. Our teacher was miss lane so she said who was on the wet turf and when our game is so she said our game was after the first game. Our first game was against Christ the king and after we could have a little bit to eat, drink. Our next game was against mount roskill and we lost by 5 goals and our game before we drawed 0 goals. We could also practice in the practice area if we wanted to

Orienteering zones

Orienteering zones

On Tuesday the 21st of may some year 5's and 6's went to Block House Bay to do orienteering. When we got there we had 15 minutes to play on the playground and then we had to come back together to get ready to run. The year 5 boys went first so the year 5 boys walked forwards and we had to write our name, school on the paper strip.

The man said the arrow is facing north and he said the arrow should always be facing to the sun. Then the lady said you can go to the people in the orange vests if you need help finding the pegs. After the year 5 boys it was the year 5 girls turn so they walked forwards and they did exactly what the year 5 boys did.

The year 6 boys and girls did the same to they wrote their name, school, start of time. My favourite part about orienteering was when I got told that I took 21 minutes, 11 seconds and I came first out of the year 5 boys. First before when I was just about to start I was nervous, scared but when I got to the end I felt good because it was over and it was fun to.
